Open Dialogue

I'll admit, I didn't really "get" Open Dialogue before spending a day (World Mental Health day, of all days) in the company of those who practise it, have benefited from it or researched it.
On October 10th, psychiatrist Dr Russell Razzaque convened around 300 mental health professionals, service users and the media as a soft launch ahead of the findings of a major mental health model of care trial in England. ODDESSI has been going on for around a decade now. In the next few months the results are due to be published in The Lancet - and we need some seriously big media coverage of what is expected to be groundbreaking and completely transformative for our strained, stretched and all too often ineffective mental health care system.
I met some incredible people and feel lucky to be part of the community now pushing for Open Dialogue to be the standard rather than the exception.
