In Episode 2 of Changing The Ovarian Cancer Story I got to speak to broadcasting legend, Christiane Amanpour. Christiane revealed she'd been diagnosed with ovarian cancer back in 2021. I remember messaging her at the time, sending my love and good wishes and thanking for her for talking so publicly about something so private. I had the great fortune of working alongside Christiane at CNN - she is an extraordinary journalist. So it was an incredible honour for her to agree to talk to me about her illness in such frank, honest, funny and relatable terms. We were also joined by the amazing Dr Angela George, Christiane's oncologist at Royal Marsden Hospital in London.

The overall message here is LISTEN TO YOUR BODY!! So much of this lethal disease goes undetected or misdiagnosed because women aren't advocating for themselves. Christiane acknowledged that she's a tough cookie but she also emotionally conceded that she hadn't asked for help before. Thanks to an amazing network of support from family, friends, medics, viewers (not to mention a lil tequila where permitted!) -- Christiane is now in remission despite the cancer recently recurring for third time.

The more awareness we can bring to this disease, its symptoms, treatment, impact and the wide effect it can have on people other than the patient herself -- the more lives we can save. Thanks always to The World Ovarian Cancer Coalition for bringing this podcast to life.
